What Share of the OS Market Will Google Chrome Occupy?

Google has announced plans to launch their new open source operating system, Google Chrome OS. Developed by Alex Chitu, official news of the Google Chrome Operting System comes 9 months after the launch of the Google Chrome Browser. The Browser has already secured 6% of the Browser market share as of June 2009. Google has announced that it will open the source later this year while netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumption in late 2010. Google's goal is to create a fast and lightweight open source OS by completing redesigning the way OS runs, much like they did with the Chrome browser. Google Chrome OS is seperate from Google Android as it will be created for the web rather than an array of devices.
