Foursquare Tells Your Facebook Friends What You Like

It wasn't all that long ago that Facebook made it easy to integrate your other social networking accounts with your Facebook page.

Yesterday, Foursquare, the location-based social check-in site with over 1 million users and counting, added Facebook "Like" buttons to every venue page on Foursquare. Every time someone checks-in to a particular location on Foursquare, they have the ability to "Like" it, which is then shared and posted on that person's Facebook profile.

"For users, the Like buttons also offer an immediate way to see which Facebook friends give a thumbs up to restaurants, coffee shops, bars and city attractions without having to dive into the venue tips," wrote Mashable.

Similarly, this presents tremendous opportunity for businesses who are automatically entered in a popularity contest. Some businesses are already starting to use Foursquare to their advantage by creating contests awarding the Mayor, or the person who has checked-in the most, with prizes.

Some people find Foursquare to be too intrusive into their personal whereabouts, especially now that it can be linked to their Facebook profiles. Others argue that this degree of openness is the future of social media. What do you think?
