All Geek to Me!

These definitions were originially published in the print version of Rogers' urmagazine.ca. One of our staff members thought it was neat, so we're posting it here to share with you.

My personal favourite is "Vaguebooking" because I witness it ALL the time.

F9 - To abruptly terminate a chate. Example: "Dude, she totally F9'd me. I can't believe it." Taken from chatroulette.com, where the F9 key serves up another person to chat with.

Vaguebooking - An intentionally vague status update that prompts Facebook friends to ask what's going on (read: I need some attention). E.g., "Julie is wondering what to do about the situation."

Zen Mail - Email messages that arrive in your inbox with no text in the message body.

Mouse trapping - When you're stuck on a web page that won't allow you to click forward or back; it just refreshes the same site. The only way out is to close the browser window.

Silver surfer - A baby boomer who spends lots of time online.

Bio surveillance - Monitoring hospital admissions to detect spikes in symptoms that could indicate a biological weapons attack.

Twibe - A group of Twitter usuers interested in a common topic.
